Taylor Swift and John Meyer were recently spotted dining separately at Chateau Marmont on Wednesday, August 20, in what most would call an awkward encounter.
Swift and Mayer who were once in a relationship, avoided each other during their respective meals, according to the Daily Mail.
The same publication suggested that the two may have spotted each other because they were seated very close by.
After their dinner, both Swift and Mayer left the restaurant in West Hollywood in separate hired cars, TMZ reported.
A source told US Weekly that Swift was at the restaurant with her good friend Lily Aldrige and clarified that the 24-year-old songstress didn't have the chance to spot Mayer there.
"Taylor was with Lily Aldridge and never saw Mr. Mayer at Chateau Marmont," the source said.
The "Your Body is a Wonderland" singer and "Red" singer famously dated back in 2009. After they ended their relationship, the country superstar wrote the song "Dear John," which most fans assumed was about her estranged boyfriend.
"Dear John, I see it all now it was wrong. Don't you think nineteen's too young to be played by your dark, twisted games? When I loved you so, I should've known," Swift's "Dear John" lyrics stated.
Following its release, Mayer aired poured his thoughts and admitted to being humiliated by the infamous track.
"I never got an e-mail. I never got a phone call. I was really caught off-guard and it really humiliated me at a time when I'd already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel, if at the lowest you've ever been, someone kicked you even lower?" Mayer said at that time.
In 2013, Mayer released a song entitled "Paper Doll" which seemed like a response to Swift's "Dear John" and "22" singles.
"You're like 22 girls in one and none of them know what they're running from. Was it just too far to fall for a little paper doll?" the song stated.
