Taylor Swift's latest music video "Shake It Off" has finally been released and it did not go without serious criticisms from hip-hop rapper Earl Sweatshirt.
On Monday night, Sweatshirt released a statement following "Shake It Off's" release, claiming that the video "perpetuates black stereotypes," according to US Weekly.
The Odd Future member tweeted, "Haven't watched the Taylor Swift video and I don't need to watch it to tell you that it's inherently offensive and ultimately harmful. Perpetuating black stereotypes to the same demographic of white girls who hide their prejudice by proclaiming their love of the culture."
"For instance, those of you who are afraid of black people but love that in 2014 it's okay for you to be trill or twerk or say n*gga," he added.
In the video that has already reached number one on iTunes, the country superstar was featured dancing among other women who were twerking. Such dance move has already been dubbed as an exploitation and appropriation with artists like Miley Cyrus and more, Hot New Hip Hop reported.
Also in the video, Swift showed off a range of avant-garde costumes and at one point went down on her knees and crawled in between six women's legs as they twerked on top of her, US Weekly noted.
Meanwhile, Sweatshirt's band mate, Flan Emoji has also weighed in on Swift's "Shake It Off" video.
"You know what this Taylor Swift video is missing? Some nice graffiti by Bieber. Let's be urban, everyone! Yay, cupcakes!"
In another tweet Emoji wrote, "Where is Kanye when you need him. This T Swift video is prob sponsored by the American Cronut Society."
Another website called the video a "cringe-worth-mess," Jezebel noted.
"Shake It Off" was released on Monday, during Yahoo's live stream event. Following its successful launch, Swift invited 100 of her most loyal and active followers to her home where they celebrated together, according to the Daily Mail.
