Following a Facebook hoax claiming they were adopting a child, rumors that Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have broken up continue to spread and Zac Efron is being blamed as the third party.

After Gosling's new movie "Lost River," which also marked his directorial debut, rumors that Mendes and Efron are dating started to spread.

If Mendes and Efron are indeed dating, it appears that Gosling is not doing well both in his love life and career as his movie "Lost River" was not well accepted by the critics in the recent Cannes Film Festival.

Efron, who just got out from rehab, is mum about the issue. However, he is reported to have a list of women he wants to date, and Mendes is at the top of the list. He is said to be looking for a girl who can challenge him intellectually and who is not intimidated by fame, Classicalite has learned.

Describing Gosling as insane for not marrying Mendes, Efron is reportedly in love with Mendes and the way she looks.   

Last Father's Day, Gosling and Mendes became a victim of a Facebook hoax, which received almost one million "likes" from the social networking site's users.

The post read, "This father's day, I've decided to tell the story of how I became a father. This little guy was only 9 months old when I became his dad. His mom and I were great friends before she passed away from cancer. I promised her, I'd always look after him...He was my everything. 1 year later after the adoption, his biological father wanted him. Of course, I put up a fight, but he won. That 1 year of being his father taught me how to love unconditionally..."

The report was eventually declared a hoax, but only after one million Facebook users "liked" the post. Not only was the post totally fake, but it also appeared to be rooted in a major scam to dupe people out of money."

While the Facebook post was confirmed hoax, Gosling and Mendes have yet to confirm the breakup rumors.
