"30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan and his fiancée Megan Wollover have thanked those who helped them during the actor's stay at a New Brunswick hospital after the fatal car accident allegedly caused by Wal-Mart truck driver Kevin Roper more than two weeks ago, WLJA has learned.
According to his rep Lewis Kay, Morgan has been transferred to "an undisclosed rehab center, where he is expected to remain for the next few weeks. While he is continuing to show signs of improvement, he still has a long way to go. He and fiancée Megan Wollover wanted to publicly express their deepest gratitude to everyone at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for the unbelievable care and attention they provided him."
After his release from the hospital, Morgan was moved to a rehabilitation center where he will continue his recuperation, Variety reported.
Meanwhile, Roper took to Twitter to explain the accident after his arrest for vehicular homicide saying, "Once again the accident was horrific and we lost a precious life, but please remember I was not drunk, high (I was tested and passed)."
He also tweeted, "I had an 'ACCIDENT' which unfortunately occurred with a lot of media spotlight. I was never charged at the scene of the accident because once again I was not guilty of any crime."
Initially, it was reported that the 35-year-old truck driver may have not slept for 24 hours prior to the car accident.
New Jersey State Police Sergeant Gregory Williams said Roper did not practice attentiveness while driving and "failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead. At the last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo bus but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn."
The car accident that took place on June 7 killed Morgan's fellow comedian James McNair and seriously injured Ardie Fuqua, who were both on board a limousine bus with Morgan.
