Matthew McConaughey won yet another Best Actor award, this time for his role as Detective Rust Cohle in HBO's "True Detective," at the Critic's Choice Awards. It's been a big award season for the 44 year old heartthrob, who took an Oscar, Golden Globe, and Independent Spirit Award for "Dallas Buyers Club."
The event took place Thursday night at the Beverly Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Other winners included Kate Mulgrew and Uzo Aduba for "Orange is the New Black," Jim Parsons for "The Big Bang Theory," and Jessica Lange for "American Horror Story: Coven."
It was also revealed McConaughey is not likely to revive his role in the highly anticipated "Magic Mike" sequel. Gabriel Iglesias, who starred in the original, broke the news during a "Dish Nation" interview.
"Word has it Matthew is probably not going to be involved in this one. He's worth a lot of money - that whole Oscar thing, the nerve right," Iglesias joked.
He also revealed what he knew we could expect this time around.
"All they're telling me -- because they haven't shown me the whole script yet -- is that they're taking the show on the road...so something tells me it's not going to be shot in Florida like the last one," Iglesias explained.
However, McConaughey revealed he would be "open" to more "True Detective."
"If HBO had wanted an option on me for a season two or three, I wouldn't have done it," he told Deadline. "I wouldn't have walked into something where they could say, 'We've got you for the next three years.'"
"I liked 'True Detective,' the whole series and the experience of making it, so much that I'd be open to doing another one now," McConaughey explained. "At the time, I was looking at six months and not beyond that. I don't know of a feature film I'd sign for where I'm going to say, 'If this works, you've got me whenever you want me for the next three years.'"
