Lana Del Rey's new album "Ultraviolence" dropped today, and as an added bonus, she released the "Shades of Cool" music video. "Ultraviolence" already topped the iTunes charts and is expected to take number one on this week's Billboard 200.
Hollywood tattoo artist Mark Mahoney stars in the video. Fans will recognize him from Rey's "West Coast" music video. Rey is featured swimming in a pool and dancing around a mansion. Watch the full video for "Shades of Cool" below!
Rey made headlines last week when she told The Guardian she wished she was dead.
"But I do. I don't want to have to keep doing this. But I am," the songstress revealed.
Rey told the publication her biggest musical influences stem from Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse, who both passed away at the young age of 27.
"That's just how I feel. If it wasn't that way, then I wouldn't say it. I would be scared if I knew [death] was coming, but..."
In the past she opened up to Fader magazine about her troubled family and personal lives.
"Family members will come on the road with me and say: 'Wow, your life is just like a movie!'" she told The Guardian. "And I'm like: 'Yeah, a really f---ed-up movie.'"
"I have a very complicated family life," the singer confessed. "I have a complicated personal life. It's not just my life, it's everyone else's in this extended family unit. It's always about someone else, even with the people I work with."
"Ultraviolence" was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and marks her second studio album.
"We were only scheduled to do three days, and then she stretched it out to two weeks and we finished a whole record. She's the real deal," Auerbach explained.
"She impressed me every day," he continued. "There were moments when she was fighting me. I could sense that maybe she didn't want to have anybody think she wasn't in control because I'm sure it's really hard to be a woman in the music business. So we bumped heads a little bit, but at the end of the day we were dancing to the songs."
