Laura Prepon's character Alex Vause on Netflix's "Orange is the New Black" quickly became a fan favorite. Due to scheduling conflicts the star could only appear in a handful of season two's episodes, but she assures fans she will be back for season three in its entirety!
"Netflix doesn't do the standard contract of blocking you off for a few years, so I had a conflict come up," she said on The Today show on Tuesday.
"It's since been handled and we've started season three and I'm in every episode. I'm so bummed that I wasn't in season two more. Sorry you guys! But season three, we're already shooting and it's going to be awesome."
Prepon was joined by fellow cast mates Taylor Schilling (Piper Chapman), Jason Biggs (Larry), and Uzo Aduba (Crazy Eyes).
"I honestly don't think there is another show on television right now which has as many strong, independent female characters," the former "That '70s Show" star stated. "Netflix is awesome because we totally push the envelope."
"[Creator] Jenji Kohan - nothing is taboo for her - we go there - and our viewers are smart they want compelling TV and now it's more competitive than ever."
"I got one of the scripts and I was like 'Oh my God.' It's also so exciting because that's when you grow as an actress when you're totally out of your comfort zone," she continued.
The hosts praised Prepon for her prison hairstyle.
"We have a salon in our prison you guys," she joked. "We tend to figure out how to get some things. Red smuggled in some things for us in the kitchen and stuff. The girls are very wily. We'll make cool aid powder with Vaseline and mix some lipstick."
"My character trades her pills for eyeliner. They all have these little things they do - to keep some sense of themselves."
