"30 Rock" star Tracy Morgan is currently in intensive care unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Center in New Brunswick, N.J. after his Mercedes Sprinter limousine bus overturned in a six-vehicle crash caused by a dozing truck driver, Chicago Tribune reported.

New Jersey state police spokesman Gregory Williams said the 45-year-old comedian was immediately taken by a helicopter to the hospital after the accident, which involved the limo bus, a sports utility vehicle, two tractor-trailers and two other vehicles.

Williams said "one of the tractor-trailers may have rear-ended that limo bus, but that's preliminary at this time" and the only vehicle that overturned was the limo killing one passenger James McNair, 63.

Authorities said the crash took place at around 1 a.m. in the northbound lanes at mile marker 71.5 near New Brunswick, and apparently was caused by the first truck, a Peterbilt with Oklahoma plates.

Upon seeing Morgan's limo bus in front of him, the dozing truck driver of the truck tried to swerve left to avoid it but ended up striking the bus in the rear and hitting another vehicle. After hitting a guardrail, the truck came to rest on the left shoulder.

Losing control, Morgan's bus rotated clockwise, turned over onto its left side, and hit a Buick, which in turn crashed into a Ford F150 pickup truck, and another tractor-trailer.

The limo company owner Christopher Thompson issued a statement saying, "Atlantic Transportation Services extends our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to those injured in last night's accident. We also give our sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones of the one individual that passed. This is a very difficult time and we appreciate all of the support and well wishes we have received thus far, and we ask that everyone pray for the recovery of those injured. Godspeed to all involved."

While no charges have been filed yet, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) spokesman Keith Holloway told ABC News it will send a team to work with the state police to investigate the accident.

Holloway said the NTSB will focus on the "broad issues concerning commercial traffic safety."

Apparently, Morgan was on his way back to his home in Bergen County, N.J. after his performance in his "Turn it Funny" tour in Dover, Del. when the accident took place, according to USA Today.
