Melanie Griffith filed for divorce Friday from her "Two Much" co-star and husband of 18 years Antonio Banderas in LA Superior Court. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, and asked for spousal support from Banderas and full custody of 17-year old daughter Stella with visitation rights.
The "Working Girl" star is willing to pay her own legal fees, according to TMZ, and the couple will divide their property in US and Spain.
This will be the fourth failed marriage for Griffith, who first married Don Johnson. The two have 24-year old Dakota Johnson together, star of upcoming flick "50 Shades of Grey." She was also married to Steven Bauer, who fathers her 28-year old son Alexander Bauer.
Banderas was previously married to Ana Leza, who he split from in 1996 after nine years.
A statement from their rep read, "We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together."
No separation date was listed, and sources claim the split is amicable.
The couple battled divorce rumors in the past but seemed to power through. In 2012 Banderas was caught on tape dancing with actress Mallika Sherawat in Cannes, followed by Griffith stepping out without her wedding ring.
In the past they faced two stints in rehab for Griffith for painkiller addiction. She had a skin cancer scare in 2009.
Griffith was spotted Thursday on the red carpet at the AFI Life Achievement Award gala honoring Jane Fonda at Hollywood's Dobly Theater wearing her wedding ring. She looked happy as she posed with fellow stars Eva Longoria and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The pair have not been photographed together since March.
