Mariah Carey was spotted riding the 1 train in New York City on Thursday. Donning a blue floor-length ball gown, the elusive chanteuse made her way home from hosting the Fresh Water Fund gala. How fancy!
"I figured since I'm underdressed, we might as well take the subway," she says in a video on her Vine.
"Avoid this area!" she says pointing to trash on the sidewalk.
The songstress shared her experience with fans using hashtag #subwayincouture. Carey said since she was "underdressed" she preferred the subway over a limo.
Earlier in the night Mrs. Nick Cannon told PEOPLE she loves the outdoors.
"Do I look outdoorsy to you?" she teased. "Actually, I am outdoorsy. More than you know."
"You know, it would really have to be pretty glam for me to want to do it, and there'd have to be a reason in somebody who really wanted me to go there to do that and have that experience," she said. "Then maybe glamping could be fun."
"I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse" debuted on iTunes Thursday. It boasts 15 tracks and features artists Miguel and Nas. Bonus tracks include musicians Mary J. Blige and R. Kelly.
The "Heartbreaker" singer calls the work "a personal possession of mine that's part of an entity that I've had almost all my life."
"It was a creative visualization of how I saw myself with the purity of a child's heart before it was ever broken," she explained.
"Please don't judge me for such a simplistic title. Come on, I was only three and a half."
