It might be time for Mark Ballas to take his dancing shoes off. While rehearsing with partner Candice Cameron Bure, Ballas suffered a serious injury and may not be able to perform on the season 18 finale.
"Mark was seriously injured during camera blocking," a spokesperson told People. "His shoulder popped out during a lift and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated and released. It's unclear whether or not he'll be able to perform on Monday's show."
The incident took place at the CBS studio where the popular competition show is taped. They couple were practicing a complicated maneuver where Ballas lifts Bure onto his shoulders. He painfully collapsed to the ground before being taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Fellow competitors Derek Hough and Cheryl Burke were present at the time, and rushed to his side for assistance.
"I'm not sure exactly what happened but I think it kind of came out and went back in," Hough told Good Morning America. "What makes me nervous a little bit is that he's had a serious shoulder surgery before, on the other shoulder."
Ballas has been treated and released, but is encouraged to sit out for the finale. He insists he wants to perform though warned if he does the injury could worsen.
Perhaps he should have learned his lesson after 2007's season five finale, where he dislocated his left shoulder when performing with Sabrina Bryan.
Ballas and Bure are one of four remaining couples on this season's "DWTS." Others consist of Olympian Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, "Big Time Rush" star James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd, and Paralympian Amy Purdy and Derek Hough.
Other injuries from this season stem from Danica McKellar and Purdy.
The "DWTS" finale airs May 19 at 8 p.m. on ABC, followed by the results show May 20.
