Alec Baldwin was arrested Tuesday morning in New York City. He was initially stopped for riding his bike in the wrong direction down Fifth Avenue, then became "belligerent" when asked to present identification, which he did not have. The actor was taken into custody at New York's 13th precinct station.
The "30 Rock" star has since been released and was issued two summonses, one traffic violation and one for disorderly conduct. E! News points out if one is issued a summons and does not have ID on them, they are taken into custody.
"Basically around 10:15, he was riding his bicycle the wrong way in vicinity of 16th and Fifth [Avenue] he was approached by the officers and was asked for [identification]," a spokesperson told the New York Daily News. "He then became belligerent and started arguing, and he was taken into custody."
"He became belligerent, yelling and screaming at the officers, 'I don't have ID. Just give me the f-----g summonses,'" the source added.
Baldwin continued to attack once he arrived at the station.
"How old are these officers?" he asked. "They don't even know who I am."
Just Jared reports the actor was bike riding for exercise, and his wife Hilaria and their 9-month-old daughter Carmen were not with him at the time of the incident.
In Touch was first to break the news, to which onlookers told them the "30 Rock" star "went ballistic on the cops, screaming at them."
The actor explained what happened in a series of tweets after being released from custody, slamming the city in the process.
"Officer Moreno, badge number xxxxx, arrested me and handcuffed me for going the wrong way on Fifth Ave."
He continued, "Meanwhile, photographers outside my home ONCE AGAIN terrified my daughter and nearly hit her with a camera. The police did nothing."
"New York City is a mismanaged carnival of stupidity that is desperate for revenue and anxious to criminalize behavior once thought benign."
Baldwin's brother was arrested last month in Manhattan for driving with a suspended license.
