Angelo Bertolotti, father of the late Brittany Murphy, is determined to get justice for his daughter. After her mysterious death in 2009, Bertolotti is pressing the Coroner's office to exhume her and her husband's bodies.
The "Clueless" star's husband Simon Monjack died five months later of the same symptoms. Originally their deaths were ruled to be from pneumonia by the LA County Coroner's office, yet Bertolotti fears they were poisoned.
"Angelo says that he sent letters to the Coroner's office, he says he's sent them the report, but he's heard nothing back," an insider told The Daily Mail.
"Angelo has spent a fortune on the case so far and is waiting for the Coroner's office to get involved, but he knows this may have to be done privately if the coroner doesn't give him any satisfactory answers. He's working on getting it done," the source added.
The late actress' father believes the couple ingested rat poison after showing support for Julia Davis, a Department of Homeland Security "whistleblower."
It was revealed in recent months Murphy did not die from natural causes. Bertolotti submitted hair, blood, and tissue samples for independent testing, where they found traces of 10 heavy metals.
"If we were to eliminate the possibility of a simultaneous accidental heavy metals exposure to the sample donor then the only logical explanation would be an exposure to these metals (toxins) administered by a third party perpetrator with likely criminal intent," the report from The Carlson Company read.
Monjack's mother Linda is not surprised of the lengths Bertolotti will go when it comes to the truth about their children's deaths.
"I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they exhumed Brittany, I've been hearing talk of this for months", she told the publication.
"It's very difficult to know how you deal with it anymore. Will we ever get any answers about Simon and Brittany? No-one will help me and I just want to find out what happened. The toxicology test Angelo did - and it's awful result - has spurred him on to want to do more and I'm not surprised at all that he wants to exhume Brittany."
