The wait is almost over, Mariah Carey fans! The diva released the artwork and title today of her new album, once titled "The Art of Letting Go," and it tops all previous titles! What do you think?
Carey calls her new album "I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse." She tells Billboard, which she covers this week; it is "a personal possession of mine that's part of an entity that I've had almost all my life."
"It was a creative visualization of how I saw myself with the purity of a child's heart before it was ever broken," she added.
As for the second portion of the title, "The Elusive Chanteuse," the songstress says she recently became dubbed that nickname.
Speaking of the art, which Carey claims is "her first and only self-portrait," the star jokes:
"Please don't judge me for such a simplistic title. Come on, I was only three and a half."
ABC notes the singer's twins, Moroccan and Monroe, are featured on the album on her track "Supernatural."
Though Carey originally planned a Beyoncé-esque drop, her album will be released on May 27 on iTunes. Fans also have the option to preorder until then.
"I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse," consists of 15 tracks and features artists Miguel and Nas. Bonus tracks include musicians Mary J. Blige and R. Kelly.
