There's something in the water in pop star paradise...Lorde has followed suit in cancelling her tour due to illness according to reports.
The 17-year-old "Royals" crooner took to Twitter Monday night to announce the bad news to her fans, stating (sic):
"in case you missed the announcement earlier, I have had to postpone my Australian shows because of a nasty chest infection and general ill health."
"I am so so gutted to have to do this but my parents and my team stepped in telling me I needed a break after being non-stop since the Grammy's in January. We will 100% be back for this tour (most likely in November)so don't worry about that."
"I just need time to get back to full Gollum girl fitness before I go out playing shows again I'm truly sorry if I let you down or if you feel inconvenienced by this and I hope you can understand."
The talented artist emerged 18 months ago and produced hits such as "Royals" and "Team." She holds multiple Grammy awards and a Brit award for her contributions to the music industry.
Lorde has received nods from some of the best in the industry, including Elton John, Lena Dunham and Miley Cyrus.
The "Girls" star tweeted back in September, "Wait, Lorde is 16!? She MAY still be a royal! IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW AT THAT AGE."
Her most recent honor was legend Bruce Springsteen covering her single "Royals" on the Australian leg of his tour.
The hit maker came under fire at the beginning of her career for making jabs at fellow pop favorites like Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift. However, it appears now she and Swift are great friends!
