This week we honor classic beauty, Liza Minnelli.
In honor of the 75th anniversary of the iconic film The Wizard of Oz, we had to pay homage to this dynasty of cinematic royalty and make a throwback Thursday tribute to Judy Garland's daughter. The special rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow performed by Pink at the Oscars Sunday night made us realize, a living legend was sitting right in the audience!
Having starred in a few films with her mother at a young age, Liza rose to her own individual level of fame and notoriety during the 1970's. Her role in the film Cabaret showcased her singing and dancing talents. Minnelli's performance earned her an Academy Award, with the film picking up 8 Oscars in total.
Cabaret is a film set during the 1930's in Germany. Directed by the one and only Bob Fosse, the film celebrated the era's style of provocative performances filled with dramatic makeup, minimal clothing, and plays on politics and the nation's history.
Liza really got into character, becoming the face of cabaret makeup. The style calls for a full face of big eyes, bold cheeks, and even bolder lips.
Skin is set with full coverage foundation to keep imperfections hidden to the audience, often worn a few shades lighter than the performer's actual skin tone. Eyes are dressed in signature shades of medium to deep dark blues, purples and blacks. Eyeliner is laid on thick along with mascara. And lips go bold and bright.
