L'Oreal Paris unveiled their 2013 Women of Worth, a group of 10 ladies "pursuing their passions to accomplish the extraordinary" and inspire change, on Monday.
This year's honorees will join a community of 70 esteemed women celebrated by the iconic beauty brand, according to PR Newswire. Each woman receiving an award has tackled heroic causes from helping victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy, to aiding terminally ill seniors in accomplishing their bucket lists, to building a nonprofit restaurant to benefit at-risk youth. These fierce females each have an important story that L'Oreal, and budding young star Lea Michele, the brand ambassador who helped pick the honorees, can't wait to tell.
"Society's focus on women leadership and female empowerment has reached a fever pitch, and the L'Oreal Paris family is proud to amplify this dialogue as we celebrate this year's incredible Women of Worth honorees, who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much to serve others and accelerate change in their communities," said L'Oreal Paris President, Karen T. Fondu. "With passionate vision and ambition, these women are truly emblematic of our brand heritage and philosophy, 'Because You're Worth It,' and we are honored to share their stories as they inspire us all to make a beautiful difference."
The 2013 Women of Worth, selected by an esteemed panel of judges, each receives $10,000 for her charitable cause. The special group of ladies will attend a distinguished celebration hosted by L'Oreal on Dec. 3 in New York. The beauty brand will also let the public vote for a national honoree, unveiled at the big event, to receive an additional $25,000 for her cause.
Now through Nov. 20, everyone nationwide can cast their ballot one of three ways for their favorite Woman of Worth.
