Katy Perry, "Prism" singer, recently said "naked" female pop stars should "put it away," referring to their body parts. It looks like the "Roar" performer is upset over artists showing so much skin onstage in 2013.
According to Billboard, Perry is downright bothered by female signers flaunting all their assets and stripping down.
"Like females in pop -- everybody's getting naked," Perry told Scott Simon on NPR's Weekend Edition. "I mean, I've been naked before but I don't feel like I have to always get naked to be noticed."
Perry continued,"I'm talking about all of them. I mean, it's like everybody's so naked. It's like, put it away. I've taken it off for -- I've taken it out here and there. And I'm not necessarily judging. I'm just saying sometimes it's nice to play that card but also it's nice to play other cards. And I know I have that sexy card in my deck but I don't always have to use that card."
The raven-haired performer is no stranger to performing naked. She once shot whipped cream out of her bra in her "California Gurls" music video and posed naked for her "Teenage Dream" album cover.
But now, John Mayer's girlfriend is annoyed by stars baring it all. Though her comments weren't directed toward anyone in particular, many stars such as Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Ke$ha have been popping up naked or nearly nude in several videos and photos lately.
Unlike her peers, Perry doesn't want to have such a racy image or flaunt her flesh anymore. Instead, she wants to just inspire her fans.
"And a lot of people see me as a role model but I'd like to kind of turn that around and say I appreciate that but I'd like to be seen as an inspiration," said Perry. "Because a role model, I think, will fail you. I mean, I couldn't tell kids when it's time for them to try things or do things. I mean, that's not my role."
According to USA Today, Perry sees herself becoming an inspiratin to girls because of all this hypersexualization in Hollywood.
