"The Voice" coach CeeLo Green is facing criminal charges, pleading not guilty to slipping ecstasy to women. But the "Forget You" singer did catch a break when the district attorney declined to file sexual assault charges against him.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Green, 38, was charged with giving the party drug to a woman at an L.A. restaurant last year.
The eccentric performer, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Calloway, maintained his innocence appearing before an L.A. County Superior Court judge on Monday afternoon. Green, alongside his attorney Blair Berk, also waived his right to a speedy trial.
Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine's fellow mentor on the NBC singing competition stands accused of putting the drug into a 33-year-old female's drink as they dined together at Wokcano restaurant in July 2012. The woman told police that she later woke up naked in a bed with the singer in her hotel room that night.
Due to lacking evidence about the women's level of intoxication and the possibility of Green having a hard time judging his "sex's partner impairment" at the time, the D.A. dismissed the sexual assault charges, reported the New York Daily News.
Green's attorney, Berk said the twosome had "consensual relations" and any claims of sexual assault are "false and unfounded," reported the L.A. Times.
If found guilty of having the controlled substance, Green would face a felony and get up to four years in prison.
