"The Voice" returned for its 2013 season 5 on Monday night. Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton sat through many blind auditions for the NBC competition, and also sang "Rock 'n' Roll" for fans during the premiere.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the whole gang is back together for a reunion that feels just right for the new season.
Aguilera showed off her slimmed down body while Green's new henna head tattoo got a lot of attention. Everyone was very excited to see the old judges back after Shakira and Usher had replaced them for season 4.
"It's like getting the original band back together and jammin' one more time," Shelton said.
Last season, the chemistry between Shelton, Levine, Shakira and Usher was lacking. A big reason why the NBC singing competition appeals to so many people was because of the original line-up of coaches, the LA Times said.
Now, the coaches are ready to win this season. Shelton is fresh off of three wins over the past three seasons, and Levine is looking to claim the title that had slipped away after he won season one. Aguilera wants to get the first victory for a female coach, and Green is still "as cool as ever" in his flashy costumes.
As far as the talent discovered in the blind auditions, several singers didn't make it through the first round. Most memorable was contestant Kat Robichaud, of Raleigh, North Carolina, who sang "I've Got the Music in Me" by the Kiki Dee Band. Her performance, dedicated to her late dad who was a "Voice" fan, won over three of the judges, but she ended up joining Team Cee Lo.
By the end of the premiere, every coach had at least one contestant on their team. "The Voice" continues on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. on NBC.
