Fashion Week has officially wrapped, allowing every designer, model, editor, blogger, makeup and hairstylist to breathe a sigh of relief. The pressure for perfection can be quite daunting, even if only for a few days. But just how do they do it? No, not the models, the ladies in the front row! Flawless and fashionable outfits are a must of course, but just what are they doing to ensure there's not a pimple, dark spot, wrinkle or blemish to be seen? We asked Board Certified skincare expert and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Miranda for his take on what treatments these lovely ladies are likely getting just before their return to the runway sidelines. Check out his tips below and tell us if you'll be planning to try any before the fashion tents are back up next spring.
Fashion Week always get everyone in a frenzy to look their best. Is there a way snag some of these looks, or is it just good supermodel genes?
Though many supermodels have naturally flawless skin, most put a great deal of work into their skincare routine. They consumer healthy foods, drink a lot of water, and follow a strict skincare regimen. However, they can thank their youth for their wrinkle-free skin. Besides following a skincare routine, there are treatments and procedures that can clear skin and treat wrinkles in no time!
Do tell! So based on show coverage these past two weeks, models were rocking clear, dewy skin. With makeup going minimal at so many shows, how can we go bare and look just as good?
Even if you're constantly taking care of your skin, it can still become dull and lifeless if dead skin cells are not sloughed off on a regular basis. Exfoliating can solve this, but to get immediate results, I would suggest a facial or a more effective treatment - microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is a great way to resurface the skins texture, while minimizing fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots.
The NYFW goers that occupy the front row look just as good as the models! What's their secret to flawlessly even, super toned skin?
These women are typically top editors or celebrities, so it's their job to take care of their skin. However, even they aren't as young as the models, they too must follow a strict skincare regimen. For smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, most women opt for some Botox injections - as long as they don't get over-injected (too many units or treatments too frequently) they won't look "frozen" and obvious. A few tiny injections in the problem areas can reduce fine line lines and wrinkles, without the "plastic" look that most women want to avoid.
If we decide to undergo any treatments, how far in advance should we get any procedures done?
It never hurts to plan ahead! For Botox or other injections, make an appointment at least a month before the big day, and schedule your treatment for at least two weeks before. Some patients are more prone to bruising than others, so it's better not to take the risk. For microdermobrasion, consult your doctor or aesthetician at least three months before, to determine how many treatments you will need.
Will these procedures last us both spring and fall fashion weeks? How often do we need to return for touchups?
Microdermobrasion may require 5-10 treatments spaced two to three weeks apart, depending on the individual. Once results are achieved, it is best to go in for touchups every 3 months or so. Non-invasive treatments like Botox typically last between 3 to 6 months, depending on the individual.
