Demi Lovato joins "Glee" in an upcoming season 5 role. The "Made in the USA" singer and "X Factor" judge will take a recurring role alongside Lea Michele and other cast members following Cory Monteith's untimely death.
According to TV Line, Lovato, 20, will have a major arc as Rachel and Santana's friend in the Fox musical dramedy.
Her character, Dani, is a New York City-based struggling artist. In the role, Lovato will interact closely with newly announced addition, Adam Lambert, who will have several musical numbers with her.
She will appear in at least six episodes, starting with the second part of the show's Beatles tribute on Oct. 3., reported TV Line.
"Glee" will supposedly work around the actress and singer's schedule on "X Factor," which will enter its third season with Simon Cowell and new judges Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio on Sept. 11.
Though Lovato is featured on the Fox's musical competition, landing a role on the network's musical show was a long time coming. Lovato was last seen on the Disney channel series, "Sonny with a Chance," which ended two years ago.
She had also had roles in Disney Channel's "Camp Rock" films with her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas, and episodes of "Prison Break" and "Grey's Anatomy."
"Glee" returns for season 5 on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 9/8c.
