"The Twilight Saga" actor Kellan Lutz showed off his shirtless sculpted chest in new stills for his "Hercules 3D" movie arriving in theaters in March 2014, according to JustJared.
Lutz, 28, channels a Greek god, decked out in all the vintage warrior armor and shield in the numerous photos on Instagram. The flick, which just wrapped in Bulgaria, shows a stronger, manly side of the actor, who reportedly put on 20 pounds of muscle for the project.
Playing the heroic and popular Hercules took a lot of preparing and focus on Lutz's part, the movie's director Renny Harlin told Hollywood Reporter.
"It takes more than a good physique to portray the most legendary, mythological personality in history - and Kellan has exactly that," Harlin said to HR. "He's not afraid to explore the strengths and vulnerabilities of the character, and he impressed me with his passion and his heart."
Harlin also believes that the role will cement Lutz as an A-list lead actor.
"This is a breakout role for Kellan and a chance to grow and shine as an actor," the director said.
Tne Nu Image and Millenium $70 million budgeted film takes the love story of the son of Zeus and mortal princess of Crete to the big screen. Sean Hood, Harlin and Guilio Steve wrote the script, with Les Welden and Danny Lerner as producers.
