Simon Cowell is expecting a child with Lauren Silverman, a New York socialite and wife of one of his close friends, reported US Weekly.
The notoriously sharp-tongued "X Factor" judge, 53, will take on another role as a father, reportedly. He will parent a "love child" with Silverman, 36, who is estranged from her husband Andrew Silverman, a real estate mogul in New York City, according to US.
A source revealed that Silverman is in still in her first trimester, "She's around 10 weeks along."
Silverman will leave her husband to be with Cowell after being in a loveless marriage, US said. A source told the magazine that there has been trouble for Silverman lately, "Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time."
"As their marriage deteriorated," the source continued. "She and Simon became close."
The baby news comes as double shock with Silverman still technically a married woman, and Cowell's anti-child stance over the years. In 2009, US reported that Cowell had explained that children were not in his future.
"God no. I couldn't have children," Cowell said. "If I had them here drawing on the walls, I'd go nuts."
But, his opinions about children have softened recently.
The "American Idol" alum hinted to AOL Music that he could consider becoming a dad in 2012, "I do really, really like kids, because I can talk to them and listen to them."
"The problem has always been how much time you need to devote to bringing up kids," Cowell continued. "And I've always dedicated all my life to my work, and at 52, I've probably missed the opportunity."
