Vogue Magazine reports that ladies, it's time to get glossified!
In the mag's latest summer beauty issue, makeup artist, Charles Tilbury, is quoted as saying "If you want a plumped-up-lip- if you want your lips to look fuller, with fewer lines, you need a gloss. Gloss always says summer."
We couldn't agree more. The shine, the vibrant colors. What more could summer beauty ask for? Tilbury goes on to recommend keeping lip colors for summer 2013 full of high-pigment and saturated sass. Now to pick the best shades worthy of a sexy, shiny summer pout.
We caught up with makeup artist, Mayli Hernandez, to get her take on the trend and see what lipglosses she recommends. Read on to learn her personal picks and click through the slideshow to see each shiner in all its glossy glory.
Orange - For this eye-popping citrusy shade, Mayli highlights Dior and Clinique. "The Dior Orange Pareo Lipgloss, I simply love on just about any skintone but for you ladies with warm skin tone, this lip gloss was made for you!" she explained. "The Clinique Chubby Stick in Oversized Orange is great for application and leaves a balmy sheen that will last. This looks beautiful on any fair skin tone."
Coral - For this universally complementary hue, Hernandez cites YSL and L'Oreal among her favorites. "Yves Saint Laurent's Pure Coral Lipgloss is an amazing product. This swatch of color would go great with a bronze summer look," said Mayli. "L'Oreal's shade 188 in Coral Tattoo is one of the best and most affordable colors for clients. Simply apply on lips then tap your fingers to soften the look."
Pinks - As for this classic lip color, our beauty guru votes for Pixi. "Pixi lip blush in shade Energy- it's a lip stain for a long lasting color. It's great if you don't like to keep reapplying product. Use it once and your good to go," Mayli said.
