After much buzz and rumors, "Devious Maids" will finally have its Lifetime premiere on June 23, with a large home audience expected to watch.
Of course, with the involvement of TV genius, Marc Cherry and endorsement from Eva Longoria, the show is drawing several comparisons to ABC's "Desparate Housewives," according to Variety. It has the same popular elements from sex to mystery to murder that prevaded the former hit show's storylines, but how will this series set itself apart?
The show is jump-started by the mysterious death of someone and it focuses on a group of four women, who are close friends. Already, we see obvious and striking similarities that might lead one to think this is some kind of soapy rip-off of the popular network show.
But the big difference is that this cast of women have one huge thing in common: they're maids for some wealthy, privileged people, who are the subject of much "water cooler" talk and gossip for the ladies during lunch and coffee breaks, undoubtedly.
And with the likes of Ana Ortz of "Ugly Betty" fame, Roselyn Sanchez, Dania Ramierez and Judy Reyes as the leading ladies, the series is "expertly cast" and has "hit written all over it," Variety reported.
The series is both a comedy and drama, which also stars soap-opera queen, Susan Lucci, according to IMDB.
