Olivia Wilde is starring in a new film alongside Steve Carrell and Jim Carrey, "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," opening March 15th, but the actress claims there is only room for one funny man in her life in a recent interview with Marie Claire.
Wilde, who is engaged to comedian and SNL cast member Jason Sudeikis, opened up about her love life, career and more with the magazine as the cover subject for the April issue.
"I was just learning to be by myself," Wilde explained of meeting Sudeikis, in a new interview with Marie Claire. "He seemed to really see me, see through the bullsh--... He was so handsome, and he could dance."
The 29-year-old Wilde got her breakthrough on FOX's medical drama House and though her film career has helped her gain a more national profile, her relationship with Sudeikis has also greatly contributed to her new fame.
"I thought, 'He won't be interested in me; I'm not a contender,'" said Wilde. "He was so cool, so funny - I was such a fan of his and had always fancied his speed and his intelligence."
While it's hard to imagine many men turning down Wilde for not being in their league, Wilde seems pretty true in her conviction.
"I thought, 'I'm not beautiful enough or his type,'" said Wilde.
Part of her perceived insecurity may have been due to her most recent heartbreak. Wilde was previously married to filmmaker Tao Ruspoli, but the couple ended their 8-year marriage in 2011. Wilde married Ruspoli when she was just 21 years old, and though losing a lover and friend was difficult, she believes it has helped her in the long run.
"I had grown up with Tao; we had just drifted," she explained. "I'm so grateful for the pain and the heartbreak. It gave me the courage to leave and brought me to the great love of my life."
In the interview with Marie Claire, Wilde also described her first date with Sudeikis and how the encounter nearly set her head over heels from the jump.
"On our first date, in New York City, we closed the restaurant down at 2 a.m.!" she recalled. "He didn't kiss me, and I was madly in love. I was overwhelmed."
Wilde told the magazine she hopes to get married to Sudeikis in New York City and start a life together—something she has never understood until meeting the "Horrible Bosses" star.
"I've never before experienced looking at someone and thinking, that's who I want to raise a child with."
Sudeikis proposed to Wilde in January after a year of dating.
