Now that all the four renowned fashion weeks -Milan, New York, London and Paris have wound up, it's time for us to make a check list of the latest trends to look out for and sport this fall/winter season. This season do not let the gloomy weather get you down, just get ready to welcome the cold with stylish winter wear.
Fur
Fur was one of the designs that ruled the runway. Almost all the industry giants right from Chanel to Nina Ricci incorporated the material into the designs in the form of scarves and fur-lined gloves and jackets. Alexander McQueen went a step further and designed Victorian dresses with fur all over.
The material not only keeps you warm but also lends a chic glamour to your look.
Light Hues like Pink and Blush
Darker hues might be the norm for the season but some of the designers dared to break rules and set new ones. While black, whites and grays made their way on the runway, it was admirable how designers also played around with colors like pink, blue, cream and blush.
The colors add a sense of cheerfulness to the ensemble. Also paired with darker shades like black and brown, these hues make up one of the trendiest ways to wear formals.
Skirts
A-line, pencil cuts, miniskirts and calf length, a variety of skirts appeared on the runway this season. Paired with sheer tops like Zuhair Murad's collection or with crisp white shirts like Valentino's, skirts always compliment a casual as well as formal look.
Trench Coats and Jackets
Yes, trench coats are back and no one's complaining. Especially if one can get hold of the ones showcased by Miu Miu in polka dot patterns, the striking red coat by Dior or the high-lows and knitted ones like Chanel's. Trench coats have always been a fashionista's darlings as they add a very formal and elegant look to outfits and with the kind of styles that have emerged, who wouldn't want one.
Jackets too made a grand entry this season and designers introduced a classic pattern of sloping shoulders and box-shaped body. The box cut adds a very angular look to the outfits and the sloping shoulders elongate the neck.
Tweed, Tulle, Leather and Tartan
Most of the designers used tweed to create jackets, which were paired with tweed skirts. The duo perfectly complimented each other in case of Chanel.
Leather was a constant fabric to make runway appearances as it was incorporated in skirts, pants, jackets and gloves. Models walked the runway in thigh high boots paired with skirts.
Tartan was mostly used to design overcoats. The fabric gave these coats a strong and aggressive look but designers embellished them with delicate laces and sequins to keep the look feminine.
Tulle was used in a lot of tops to keep the look sheer like in Zuhair Murad and Elie Saab's designs.
Turtle Necks
Turtle necks featured in coats, sweaters and even dresses this season. Designers like Erdem and Roksanda Ilincic used it in outfits during the London Fashion Week.
Gold Plates and Metal Rings
Gold plates are often used to make an outfit stand out. Burberry used this idea in almost all their designs during the London Fashion Week and showcased gold plated belts, bags, dresses as well as shoes.
Another renowned designer, Vanessa Bruno, used metal rings on the hemline of skirts to give it a masculine edge during the Paris Fashion Week.
