It looks like the New York Jets-Tim Tebow saga isn't quite over. According to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jets do not plan to release the quarterback before the start of the new league season.

The news of the Jets plan is surprising, as recent reports have indicated that there is very little interest in the backup quarterback. In fact Schefter quoted one NFL general manager saying, "I think his career is over without playing another position."

The former Florida Gator has had a rough go in New York following his magical season in Denver. Tebow led the Broncos to playoffs by capturing the team's first division title since 2005. He then stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers in the opening round with an 80-yard overtime touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas, to defeat the Steelers 29-23.

However that was the end of the good times in the Mile High City, as the Broncos were humiliated 45-10 by the New England Patriots. Tebow was traded to the Jets for a fourth-round pick following the end of the season.

Expectations were high for Tebow upon his arrival in New York, despite struggles with his accuracy. The Jets felt he would be a good fit for their wildcat package, even though the quarterback had only completed a dismal 46.5 percent of his passes the season before.

Tebow got plenty of news coverage weekly and the more Mark Sanchez struggled, the more fans called for Tebow to be the starter. In spite of this, he was only used on 73 offensive plays and finished the season completing 6 of 8 passes for 39 yards.

It's very hard to see how the Jets will get any value out of trading Tebow, as the team did nothing to raise his stock. They refused to use the quarterback and the Jets will be hard pressed to find a trade partner.
