Katherine Webb, Miss Alabama, QB A.J. McCarron's girlfriend tells Matt Lauer, "apology by ESPN for Brent Musburger's comments are not necessary." The 23 year-old gained unintentional media attention when she was featured during the BCS Championship game by ESPN.
During the BCS Game between Alabama and Notre Dame, broadcaster Brent Musburger made a comment in regards to Webb saying "Wow, I'm telling you. You quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women," adding, "What a beautiful woman."
ESPN soon made an apology to Web stating "We apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that." tweeted ESPN spokesman Mike Solty.
Since the BCS Bowl Game Katherine Webb's twitter has sky rocketed with over 223,000 followers, gaining more and more each day.
Recently, Katherines parants told ESPN to give Brent Musburger a break stating "if you really look into what that he was trying to say, he was trying to be complimentary, and I think they need to give Brent a break," said Alan Webb told FOX 5 Atlanta. Webb's parents said their daughter was once an ugly duckling, bullied both for the skin condition Vitiglio and her height. Her self confidence grew dramatically while competing for Miss USA competition accoring to Webb's mom.
Katherine in interview with Matt Lauer added "The media has been really unfair to [Brent Musburger]," saying "I think that if he would've said something along the line of we were 'hot' or 'sexy' or made any derogatory statements like that, that would've been a little bit different. But the fact that he said we were beautiful and gorgeous, I don't see why any woman wouldn't be flattered by that...I don't take any offense to it at all."
"I don't think [ESPN's apology] was needed, honestly," adding "We need to draw back the attention to the Alabama Football team." When Lauer asked about her future plans Katherine said "I'll do what ever I can to help the team out and support A.J."
Donald Trump Miss USA organizer tweeted: Miss Alabama, Katherine Webb, has been a truly great representative of the Ms. USA Organization ..We are proud of her! Adding, "We are going to ask Katherine Webb to be a judge at the Miss USA Pageant coming up in Las Vegas."
