Douyin x Latina Makeup Takes Over: 5 Tips to Achieve This Year's Hottest Beauty Look

In 2024, Douyin and Latina makeup reigned supreme in the beauty side of TikTok, with the former's trending hashtag earning 204,000 users, while 117,300 for the latter.

Douyin makeup refers to popular Chinese makeup which is characterized by creating shimmery eyeshadow, glittery lids, pink flush, gradient lips, dramatic lashes, and more.

This is among the beauty trends that highlight a "skin-first, minimalistic style," as described by the magazine, Teen Vogue.

On the flip side, the Latina makeup is quite the opposite as the look caters to a fabulous look, with extreme contouring and baking, longer eyelashes, thicker eyebrows, and nude plump lips.

Despite its differences, TikTokers find its combination fluttering and is now rising as one of the hottest beauty looks in 2025.

But how can beginners decide which step to take from both trends? Here are five tips you need to know, as per beauty influencer Nica Phan (@nicakphan).

Defined Dark Eyebrows

In her recent viral video, the Vietnamese-American decided to do the Latina's eyebrows and drew very defined and almost black brows.

"I always start at the tail, which is where the darkest part of the brow should be," she said.

For her base, she went for the Douyin way and applied a light layer of powder contour. Next, using a brown pencil, Nica continued to draw her nose contour in an outward-facing "C" shape before applying her eyeshadows.

Eyeshadows

This step is where everything gets tricky. While she initially went for a lighter brown palette, Phan eventually made it thicker with a darker shade and added a thick, black wing.
She then defined her "aegyo-sal" the illusion of flattering fats under the eye, which is an essential characteristic of the Douyin look.

"Glitter is necessary," she added.

Big and Thick Eyelashes

For bigger eyes, Nica wore big and thick eyelashes before drawing a cluster of hairs for the bottom lashes. She continued by adding a subtle blush below her eyes and on the sides of her nose.

Lips

Lastly for the lips, Nica contoured her outer lips and applied a nude lipstick.
