Her solution? Priming the brush. In a tutorial, she revealed the steps to do this so-called brush priming.
Step 1: Condition the skin the night before
To condition and exfoliate the skin before doing makeup, Katie suggests washing the face with a cloth before going to bed.
Step 2: Swatch the concealer/foundation
At the back of the hand, apply an ample amount of concealer or foundation with a shade preferred. In her tutorial, she used Mario concealer in the shade 180.
"You don't need that specific concealer, you just need a full-coverage concealer," she clarified.
Step 3: Grab an eyeshadow brush for priming

Using any eyeshadow brush, smoosh it to the swatch of product at the back of your hand until the bristles absorb most of it. If you can't choose one, using the KJH Specrum collab brush in No.10 will do the work.
Step 4: Apply the brush to the area for coverage
After the third step, proceed to sweep the brush with the product to the area that coverage is required such as under and outer corner of the eyes, mouth, chin, nose, above the brow, and underneath the contour.
Following these four simple steps, Katie assured beauty enthusiasts that when they tried it, the result would always be amazing.
She even compared the before and after of doing this trick, saying, "Before, redness and discoloration around my nose, around my mouth and not so much contrast around my eyeshadow and skin."
She continued to show the part where she applied the primed brush and added:
"The opposite of all those things that I just said."
