On TikTok, a color-changing eye drop has been going viral among beauty lovers. Despite claims that it is safe, the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) warned shoppers about its danger.

However, the US FDA has already sent a warning letter to the company, confirming that the products are "unapproved" new drugs.

According to Happi, the FDA flagged the brand's claim of "lightening and brightening dark eye color," violating sections 505 (a) and 301 (d) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act).

"Ophthalmic drug products, which are intended for administration into the eyes, in general, pose a greater risk of harm to users because the route of administration for these products bypasses some of the body’s natural defenses," explained the FDA.

It also questioned reviews that it could turn someone's blue and brown eyes to green in five months and emphasized that the eye drops are NOT generally recognized as safe and effective.
