Meg Bellamy had a "lot of fun" recreating Kate Middleton's iconic sheer dress catwalk moment for the final season of "The Crown."

In an exclusive Entertainment Tonight (ET) interview published Tuesday, the 21-year-old actress portraying Middleton in Season 6 of the historical drama series expressed her thoughts on reenacting the Princess of Wales' university runway moment -- a pivotal event that reportedly captured Prince William's heart, igniting their royal romance.

"This has all been very surreal," Bellamy told ET of playing Middleton. "It's a great time."

The show depicted Middleton's appearance at a charity fashion event in 2001 while she and Prince William were still students at St. Andrews University in Scotland. The comparison can be seen in the New York Post tweet below.

During the university fashion show, Middleton wore a pair of dark briefs and a bold black strapless, sheer dress featuring turquoise lining on both hems. Her brown hair was styled in spiral curls, with colorful fabrics braided through sections.

The dress was crafted by Middleton's fellow university student Charlotte Todd, who was studying for her degree in fashion and textiles at the University of the West of England. She created the garment for a project named "The Art Of Seduction," hence its daring design.

The piece reportedly cost only around $37 to create. However, it fetched nearly $100,000 at auction in 2011, according to Harper's Bazaar.

Bellamy was initially nervous about recreating such an iconic scene, but it was an enjoyable experience overall.

"It was a lot of fun," Bellamy told ET. "It was definitely nerve-wracking before, but just so much fun. The director made everyone feel so comfortable, and the music was pumping, the crowds were cheering, so it was actually a really electric day and it felt cool to be wearing a kind of iconic piece of history."

Bellamy said that the portrayal is distant enough to be historical while also involving recognizable figures from today. She highlighted the incorporation of modern royals without solely focusing on their recent actions.

"It's far enough away that it's still historical," she said. "It's bringing in the people that we know today, touching on the modern royals, but not documenting what they did yesterday."

The actress also talked about how she had more freedom in how she depicted Middleton on the series due to the fact that the season only focused on the early years of the royal's relationship with Prince William.

"Nobody knows how [Kate and William] interacted when they were at university together, there's no documentation or videos of their conversations," Bellamy said. "So it's all kind of creative license, which is really fun to play with from an acting standpoint."

The remaining six episodes of "The Crown" Season 6 are scheduled for release on Dec. 14.
