Wine isn't only good for drinking, it's also good in skincare.
Resveratrol belongs to the group of polyphenol compounds and is commonly found in grapes and berries. It is commonly ingested through wine and of course, the grapes that wine comes from. Since the 1800s, people have been under the impression that drinking a glass of wine daily is good for the health because it's supposedly good for the heart, helps with diabetes and prevents some types of cancer.
While the scientific evidence on wine intake is still lacking, polyphenols and resveratrol have been making their way into skincare. Board-certified dermatologist Ava Shamban shares that polyphenols are key antioxidants that protect the cells against damage and aging. This leads to smoother and healthier-looking skin. Shamban adds that resveratrol also helps minimize redness and inflammation due to its skin-calming properties.
