Is it the 'Spark Joy' movement, or did the Kardashians purge their closets into a multi-billion dollar retail industry?
If you've been keeping up with the Kardashians, October 4 commences the Kardashian closet raid that let fans buy luxury designer items exclusively on the Kardashian Kloset.
Kylie Jenner's $1000 Gucci diaper bag sold quickly along with Givenci, Fendy and other high-end fashion pieces from the Kim Kardashian West collection and the Kris Jenner collection. Khloe and Kourtney's collections are coming up soon!
The Kardashian family's rise to fame in the past decade has made it possible for the clan to grow an insane amount of clothing, shoes and bags. It doesn't help that the Kardashians tend not to repeat their outfits except for rare moments when the Kardashian sisters borrowed each other's clothes as sisters normally do.
What does a famous family do with piles of clothing only worn once? Apparently, selling them to fans is what the Kardashians do!
Advertising and branding expert Linda Knight shares her take on the Kardashian's new business seeing it as an extension to the KUWTK brand. She notes that brands offering resale luxury goods at affordable prices, especially those worn by stars are doing well in their markets.
What to Expect
Get the look of the Kardashian star you love by shopping their individual collections. Their once-loved pieces are selling like hotcakes to all who love their style.
The Momager's luxurious closet features a lot of "As Seen on TV or Print" pieces like the Fendi black trench coat that sold for over a thousand American dollars. She also has some statement pieces like an Oscar de la Renta goat-haired vest she hasn't even worn yet!
Meanwhile, if you're looking to shop for Kris Jenner's shoes, keep in mind she wears a US Size 9.
Up next is the collection of Kim Kardashian West whose IG followers are more than a million. While she finally got it right with her shapewear SKIMS, Kim's fans can now steal her IG-worthy looks by shopping her collection. At the time of this writing, there are only a select few pieces on Kim's collection including a Tom Ford skirt and a Robert Cavalli blouse which were New with Tags (NWT).
Meanwhile, Kim's Versace Handbag and other purses sold out fast to fans who have been waiting since the initial announcement on IG on September 29.
Kylie Jenner gave up a few pieces to sell at the Kardashian closet sale too. After not making it into the Forbes 400 list along with Beyonce's husband Jay-Z, Kylie agreed to her momager's idea and put her Alexander Wang pants, Balenciaga boots and Gucci diaper bag on sale exclusively at the Kardashian Kloset site.
While most of Kylie's shoes sold out fast, her hot pink Balenciaga sock booties, Givenchy animal print handbag and Morgan Lane PJs are still up for the taking.
Marie Kondo Faux Pas?
In other news, "The Beverly Hills Organizer to the Stars" Linda Koopersmith -- whose clients include Khloé Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen -- cried foul over Marie Kondo's folding technique. Apparently, the Konmari Method of folding does not spark joy for the professional organizer.
Koopersmith claims that she pioneered the upright folding technique almost three decades ago, published it in her book, and aired on TV and YouTube.
