CFDA Awards just concluded, and of course, the event was graced with personalities in their best attire. One of the eye-catching ones was Issa Rae, who looked radiant and fresh during the night.
Apart from her shiny shimmering splendid that was her royal blue pantsuit, Rae's look for the event was what had everyone talking. Fortunately, her CFDA look was revealed by her stylist, Joanna Simkin, which fans can easily copy.
Fresh, Dewy Look
Like most preparations prior to applying makeup, a skincare routine should be done. Simkin shared that she used products for hydration first. To be specific, she used Embryolisse's Concentrated Lait Cream on Rae first to give the ultimate moist and radiant look.
After hydrating the face, Simkin then applied the TruBlend Matte Made Liquid Foundation from CoverGirl in Rae's T-zone, helping her achieve a dewy look rather than an oily face. To give the skin more life, the makeup artist used the Queen Collection Bronzer from CoverGirl. Finally, she used Vitalist Healthy Glow Highlighter in Sunkissed to give glow to some points in the actress's face.
"I wanted to keep the skin really neutral and golden because the eye is so strong," Simkin said.
Obviously, what really stood out from Rae's makeup were her eyes. Simkin used the Chocoholic Palette first. Then to mimic Swarovski crystals, the stylist used silver glitters and used the Look Lock It Up Spray to secure it in the eyelids.
For the lashes, Simkin's inspiration was Diana Ross, so she had done it full and thick, thanks to Flourish by Lash Blast Mascara. For Rae's pout, the stylist used a nude lipstick, CoverGirl's Exhibitionist in Coffee Crave, to imbibe the '70s vibe.
She matched her outfit with a low ponytail, which definitely highlighted Rae's undeniable beauty even more. The blue sparkly ensemble is not outshone by her minimalist accessories as well.
Rae's fabulous aura at the CFDA was not at all unexpected. After all, she's been known as a red carpet slayer, read: one who pulls off the entire look in red carpets. She certainly did not disappoint during her appearance at the June 4 event.
The night was also remarkable because it serves as the first time a woman hosted the event in the past 10 years. Prior to gracing the event, Rae already teased that an epic event is about to go down.
"I'm about to hold it down for all the females," she quipped in a Facebook Live.
It was in March when it was announced that Rae will be hosting the CFDA Awards.
