Kristen Stewart is not afraid of making rattail happen again, even if that meant showcasing it at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in Europe.
Yup, everyone read that right. Stewart has a small surprise at the back and it quickly gained everyone's attention. The Twilight actress was seen with intricate hairstyles during her appearances but the braided rattail ultimately stole the show.
The 28-year-old thespian was not seen at the glitzy and glamorous 2018 Met Gala because she was at the Cannes to be a member of the jury. In front, Stewart's up-dos easily won over onlookers, who weren't aware of something hanging at her nape, her rattail, which became popular during the '80s and '90s.
She is not at fault here, Stewart wasn't actually shying the rattail away from limelight. In fact, her photographs that had her hair pulled up would easily let anyone spot the hanging hair. On Tuesday, she rocked a blue suit and matched it with a pompadour and of course her rattail.
Later that night, her intricate hairstyle showed the reverse corset braid. The design was too beautiful and awe-inspiring not to be noticed. Of course, her rattail had all the more reason to show up, even as it sometimes was hidden by her collar.
It's a bold move to sport a rattail, considering it has long been shelved. But for fans of Stewart, it wasn't at all a drastic move. She has had some of the most shocking hair transformations before. Whether anyone has a say or not, the actress didn't mind and just rocked her mane.
For instance, last year, she had a buzz cut and bleached her hair blonde. When that had grown out, she opted to have the tips frosted. Prior to this, she had casually returned to her brunette hair before coloring it blonde again, all while she experimented on the length of her locks as well.
"I've always really stayed neutral since I was like 10 years old, so I was like, 'I'm gonna direct a short, and I'm gonna f- up my hair,'" Stewart explained of her buzz cut.
This is one thing to love about Stewart. She makes sure she doesn't please anyone when she does anything her way, and that's not only applicable in her hairstyles, she also pushes boundaries when it comes to fashion choices, especially to make a statement.
For example, Cannes had been known to have strict rules for women to wear heels on the red carpet. So much so that in 2015, a group of women weren't able to grace the festival because they broke that rule, which was eventually taken down. The next year, Stewart's attendance ultimately signaled her stance for the fest's scrapped rule by wearing sneakers on the red carpet.
