Sex tape peddling, leaks, and nude photos seem like rites of passages for Hollywood artists. The latest victim: "The OC" actress Mischa Barton, aka the dark and vulnerable Marissa Cooper.

After her stint on the wildly successful show, Mischa Barton ran into different controversies including several legal troubles, rumored drug use, and psychiatric confinement. However, it seems that all these issues are not enough, and a possible sex tape became another issue she had to deal with.

People reported that the actress retained a lawyer as protection from the reports that surfaced over an alleged sex tape being shopped around. Her lawyer, Lisa Bloom issued a forceful statement regarding the rumors, saying that Mischa Barton "did not consent to any disclosure of any such images." She also noted that the actress believed she was recorded without her consent by someone she was dating. 

Bloom also said in the statement via Facebook that shopping for companies to release the sex tape of Mischa Barton is "discussing conduct." "Revenge pornography is a form of sexual assault, and it is also a crime and a civil wrong in California. And we will not stand for it," she stated.

Mischa Barton may also pursue the sex tape case in civil and criminal court, an action that Bloom said empowering. "I think this is a very healthy step that Mischa is taking." She explained that in cases similar to her client's, women can get scared. However, she noted that she found it "very empowering" when women refused to back down from such issues.

This is especially true for Mischa Barton, who already had a rough year before reports of the sex tape leaked. "I think this is a very healthy step that Mischa step is taking," Bloom said. An insider shared the same sentiments and explained that the actress refused to show that she's fragile.
