Famous singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran will appear as the guest star in the seventh season of HBO drama "Game Of Thrones". The showrunners, David Benioff and Dan Weiss revealed the latest development during an event on Sunday at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin. Texas.
As reported by The Guardian, the 26-year-old singer confirmed his appearance on the TV series through a Twitter post, captioning, "Guess the cats out the bag," in which he was captured with GOT actor Maisie Williams. "For years, we have been trying to get Ed Sheeran on the show in order to surprise Maisie and this year, we finally did it," said Benioff who referred Williams as a big Sheeran fan.
According to EW, this is not the first time "Game of Thrones" has musical cameos. In previous seasons, members of Coldplay, Of Monsters and Men, Mastodon and Sigur Ros have also appeared as guest stars. The HBO spokesperson later confirmed the news, but no details have been revealed regarding the "Shape Of You" character.
Benioff also made a declaration that final season would only contain six episodes, reports Vanity Fair. "From the beginning, we wanted to tell a 70-hour long movie. But it's concluding to be a 73-hour movie, but it's stayed the same of having the beginning and the middle. Now we have come to the end, and it would be really tough to lose more core members," said the producer.
This isn't the only big news announced about The Grammy award winner, who is enjoying a huge commercial success with his latest album "Divide". On the Billboard 200 rankings, the album earned an impressive 451,000 units in the week ending March 10, which makes it the largest week for an album on Billboard 200 this year.
"Game of Thrones" Season 7 will premiere on HBO this July 16.
