Since the release of "Guardians of the Galaxy" in 2014, every Marvel fan is eagerly waiting for its next film. Since the first teaser and trailer of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" was released back in late 2016, the anticipation among the fans have increased greatly.
According to NME, James Gunn, the film's director, has released some tidbits about the upcoming installment that every fan needs to know. Below are some of the compiled bits of information from the announcement:
1. Release Date: The blockbuster sequel has been scheduled for release on April 28, 2017, in the UK, and a week after that in the US. The filming has been completed and if rumors are to be believed, another sequel is on the way.
2. Returning cast: As reported by Gamesradar, the entire main cast from the first film will return, including Chris Pratt as the leader Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, which may be show stealer in the movie, Vin Diesel as the voice of Baby Groot (remember what happens to the big Groot), Bradley Cooper as the speaking combat raccoon Rocket and Karen Gillan as the female villain Nebula. Michael Rooker will also be returning as Yondu Udonta.
3. New cast: Gunn also reported that Kurt Russell will be joining the team cast as the father of Star-Lord, Ego, while French actress Pom Klementieff will play the role of the psychic woman, Mantis. And the film will also witness a cameo from legend Sylvester Stallone. "It is not a big part, but surely a very important role in the movie," states Gunn.
4. Soundtrack: Similar to the first movie, volume 2 will also contain a cosmic mixtape of the soundtrack, but more diverse with a mixture of some well-known songs along with the new ones. All the songs have been picked by the director himself.
