Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev may have met and fallen in love on the set of "The Vampire Diaries," leaving the duo to become one of Hollywood's hottest couples both on and off the screen, however, with the pair having both moved on to new relationships since calling it quits in 2013, are the former couple still on good terms?

Rumors of the couple's strained friendship emerged after Dobrev announced she would be leaving the CW series to pursue other opportunities. Fans became concerned that Somerhalder's new romance with fellow vampire star Nikki Reed, who appeared in the "Twilight" franchise, caused Dobrev to leave "TVD" prematurely. 

However, Dobrev personally denied the rumors, insisting that she and Somerhalder remain good friends and that she was happy for her ex's new romance.

"I love him and the friendship is still strong and I think he's great and I care about him. And that didn't change. Yes, we're professional and that's fine. We were friends long before we dated and we still are now," the actress confessed to E! Online.

Dobrev even gushed over Somerhalder and Reed's recent nuptials, telling E! that she thought her ex and his new wife's wedding was "beautiful."

"When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful. They look happy and I am happy and so I don't see why there should be a problem with that," she admits.

However, when it was revealed last week that Somerhalder unfollowed Dobrev on Twitter, the news did not sit well for Dobrev fans, who began tweeting the hashtag #UnfollowMeSomerhalder in response to his apparent diss on his ex.

International Business Times reports that the leading theory surrounding the former couple is that Somerhalder's wife Reed pressured him to cut ties to Dobrev, as reports still suggest that Reed is insecure about Somerhalder and Dobrev's friendliness post-breakup.

However, other rumors suggest that Somerhalder is jealous of Dobrev's new relationship with "Whiplash" actor Austin Stowell, who seemingly confirmed their romance earlier this month.
