Joe Jonas and Gigi Hadid may have shocked fans earlier this week when sources close to the new couple confirmed that Hadid and Jonas are "hanging out romantically" after weeks of speculation. Now that Jonas has successful swept Hadid off her feet following her abrupt split from Cody Simpson, sources are dishing on how the singer won over the model's heart.

Jonas was spotted hanging with Hadid only a few short days after the model and Simpson announced via a statement from Hadid's rep that they were going their separate ways to focus on their own careers.

However, after Jonas was photographed with Hadid on several different occasions, fans began wondering if the duo were more than just friends.

The duo were last spotted at Maybelline New York's 100th Anniversary party, E! News confirms, just days after the couple made headlines for reportedly sharing a kiss during a CFDA Awards after-party.

A source close to Hadid dishes to Hollywood Life, "Gigi and Joe realized soon after he reached out to her--after she split with Cody--that they should make a fist of things. Even when she was together with Cody, Gigi remained very close to Joe. She didn't seem as often out of respect for her then-boyfriend but she always considered him a good friend."

The insider adds, "So as soon as he offered a shoulder to cry on, Joe became the knight in shining armor she was looking for. Not only did he listen to her woes, she also soon realized that he was a better fit for her than Cody."

However, the source does clarify that the duo aren't taking their new romance too seriously.

"They aren't rushing anything just yet. They are taking things incredibly slowly. Joe knows Gigi's still nursing some heartbreak, so they'll just see where this goes for the time being. Whatever happens though, they're sure they'll always remain very tight pals."
