According to Comscore, in April 2012 over 181 million U.S. Internet users watched nearly 37 billion online videos, Youtube ranked as the top video content property with 157.7 million viewers, out of those are the fashion and beauty viewers are rapidly growing.
Beauty viewers account for millions of online viewership with Youtube makeup gurus giving makeup tips, style disaster solutions and how-to tutorials to help every day women and men to look their best. These young internet experts are drawing huge viewerships and developing not only their own audiences but also a business brand.
The growth of new beauty experts phenomenon has not gone unnoticed, many of the fashion brands are jumping on the bandwagon. Beauty experts Michelle Phan one of the first post beauty and make up tutorials expert with over 585 million youtube views was hired by Lancome Cosmetics in 2010. Sisters Elle (AllThatGlitters21) Folwer with 82 million youtube views and Blair (juicystar07) Fowler with over 142 million youtube views, have a partnership with Blush.com, a premier cosmetics retailer to promote "Skylark" by Elle and Blair and other cosmetic lines.
As more and more audiences are going to youtube and other video sites for beauty tips, the growth of beauty experts will be vital in promoting fashion and beauty lines.
