Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill may have shocked fans with their rumored engagement, however, perhaps it's Minaj's ex, Safaree Samuels, who should be the most surprised. In a new interview with VladTV, the up-and-coming rapper discusses his feelings about his ex and the news of her engagement to Meek Mill.

Mstars reports that, despite Minaj and Meek Mill getting engaged after only a few short months of dating, Samuels, who dated Minaj for almost eleven years, admits that the news makes him "feel free" following his split from the "Truffle Butter" rapper. In addition, Samuels admits that he isn't bothered seeing Minaj date the MMG rapper nor was he ever put-off by "flirtatious" behavior between her and label mate Drake.

"I didn't even know he did that," Samuels admits, noting, "I look at that stuff as entertainment. I don't take none of that to heart," he reveals.

Samuels also adds that in regards to Minaj's rumored engagement with Meek Mill, "It is what it is. If that's who she chooses to be with it don't have nothing to do with me. If I was a bitter jealous person and I was miserable in my life right now, it'll be different, but mentally, I haven't been this happy in God knows how long. I just feel free."

As for whether or not he's spoken to Minaj since her engagement, Samuels shockingly admits, "She's moved on, I've moved on. When people break up, it's for a reason. It's not a break," before noting that he hasn't spoken to her since "New Year's" and doesn't plan on speaking to her in the future.

While neither Minaj nor Meek Mill have confirmed the news of their engagement, sources offer up mixed-reports regarding whether or not the couple are in fact planning to get married.

Sources initially reported that the duo were definitely engaged and are looking forward to a "fairytale wedding" as soon as this summer, while other sources admit that the $500,000 diamond heart-shaped ring Minaj posted a photo of to Instagram is just a gift from Mill to show his love for his girlfriend.

Regardless, it seems Minaj's ex has moved on from their lengthy relationship and is currently rumored to be dating model Sophia Body, although he insists that they are "just friends."
