Big Sean ended his relationship with Ariana Grande due to conflicting schedules and their representatives confirmed it in a joint statement.
However, there were reports that trust issues contributed to the breakup of the couple.
"At the end of the day, they didn't really trust each other," a source exclusively told Hollywood Life, Tuesday.
"Girls practically threw themselves over Big Sean and he never seemed to back off as quickly as Grande would have liked," revealed the source.
"Plus, there were a number of times that Ariana saw suspicious texts on Sean's phone. He always had an excuse, but these things add up," the source added.
On the other hand, while the "Break Free" singer only has a few guys around her, they're reportedly very close.
"Her having such good guy friends was hard for Sean to take," the insider also said. "Also, many of Ariana's guy friends are dancers who are very good-looking and super ripped."
The closeness Grande shares with her dancers was evident when she posted a snap on Instagram, Friday, captioned, "no words to express how much i love and adore this group of babess."

The separation devastated their fans but it's not the end of the world for these music celebrities.
Despite the breakup, Sean and Grande continuously send positive messages to their supporters via social media.
"Never satisfied but always thankful! We came up from nothing, Blessed! Blessed to be here n blessed to have y'all," Sean posted on Instagram, Monday.
"I love u babes so much. you're a bunch of angels honestly. your love / care is appreciated so much. i'm good i promise," Grande tweeted to let her followers, Daily Mail reported.
This message was later allegedly deleted by the "Love Me Harder" singer.
While Sean's fully booked for tours and concerts, Grande went to New Orleans to film a couple of scenes for the upcoming television series "Scream Queens," Perez Hilton learned.
The 21-year-old singer tweeted on Monday that she had fun working on her first day and thanked her co-stars, including Lea Michele and Emma Roberts, for making her feel so welcomed.
Grande will start the second leg of her Honeymoon tour in Paris on May 2015.
