Eddie Redmayne is the best bet to play Newt Scamander in Warner Bros.'s upcoming movie, "Fantastic Beast and Where To Find Them," Variety reported Friday.

Director David Yates is considering other actors for the role of the magical zoologist, but Redmayne is at the top of the list. However, the 33-year-old actor has not received an official offer yet.

The Hollywood actor's qualification to land this role is unquestionable. Redmayne recently won a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award and an Oscar for the movie "The Theory of Everything," where he portrayed Stephen Hawking, who has been battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) for the past 40 years.

The British actor was also part of "Les Miserables," playing the role of Marius. He will also be playing the challenging role of being a transgender woman in his next film, "The Danish Girl."

Redmayne and Warner Bros. recently worked together for the film, "Jupiter Ascending," where the actor played the villainous Balem Abrasax.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has yet to confirm or deny the movie's casting report.

Author J.K. Rowling is very hands-on in this project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In fact, this will be her screenwriting debut.

"Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the 'Harry Potter' series but an extension of the wizarding world," Rowling said of the spinoff.

The "Harry Potter" spinoff, a trilogy, will be released in 2016, 2018 and 2020, E! News has learned. The first installment of the movie adaptation will hit the big screen on November 18, 2016.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them" is centers on the Hogwarts textbook that follows the adventure of Newt Scamander, the author of the book. It is set in New York, 70 years before the famous "Harry Potter" saga began.
