GoPro has announced that it has teamed up with technology provider Vislink to equip the action camera maker's HERO4 devices with a wireless transmitter for live, broadcast-quality video, according to Variety.

GoPro and Vislink, a global technology leader specializing in the collection, management and delivery of HD video and associated data, have been collaborating to make a transmitter of a size that would not make it obtrusive when worn or mounted.

The transmitter is small enough to be fitted onto equipment or worn, giving audiences a new perspective of live sporting and other events, according to Yahoo.

"GoPro has changed the way people see the world, creating an immersive viewing experience. Now with unique GoPro perspectives available to broadcaster, watching live events is like being part of the action instead of watching it from the stands," said GoPro President Tony Bates.

"Our partnership with Vislink brings a new level excitement to live broadcast and we can't wait to see what players, broadcasters and fans do with this new innovative solution," he continued.

Vislink chairman John Hawkins expressed happiness about the fusion as well.

"We are delighted to be partnering with GoPro, a global leader in its field, to develop a unique solution designed specifically for professional broadcasters," Hawkins said.

"For decades, Vislink has been the market leader in providing low latency, wireless cameras and transmission systems for highly prestigious live broadcast events. Many of the events where Vislink technology operates are within highly demanding broadcast environments such as the Olympics, MotoGP, WRC World Rally Championship, Formula-E and the America's Cup," Hawkins continued.

" Working with GoPro, a highly innovative global leader in video content, is testament to our cutting edge technology and its ability to operate in all environments," the chairman said.

The wireless HD transmitter-fitted GoPro HERO4 will be showcased at popular sporting events this year, including ESPN's Winter X Games 2015 Aspen, happening from Jan. 22 to 25, and a number of AMA Monster Energy Supercross events.
