"The Interview" star James Franco took to Instagram to express his excitement about the release of the controversial Sony Pictures film on Christmas Day.
"CELEBRATING!!!!! "The Interview" starring Seth Rogen and James Flacco saved by President Obacco! I MEAN PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!! Sorry!!!" Franco captioned the Instagram photo of him, his co-star Seth Rogen and another man jokingly kissing.
Obacco refers to the name flub United States President Barack Obama made during the recent press announcement when he called the actor Flacco instead of Franco.
While expressing his disappointment with the cancellation of "The Interview" release because of a threat posed by a hack on Sony, Obama was said to have confused Franco with NFL player Joe Flacco.
After pulling the film amid a controversial cyber-attack, Sony Pictures is finally distributing "The Interview" online and is offering the film via Microsoft and Google through Microsoft's Xbox Video platform and Google services YouTube and Play.
As part of its online release, the film whose plot focuses on a plan to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will be released through a dedicated website, seetheinterview.com. However, the online release available only in the US, BBC News reported.
On Christmas Day, "The Interview" will be also be released in 331 theaters in the U.S., as confirmed by a Sony representative, according to Deadline.
For moviegoers in Connecticut, "The Interview" will be screened in two theaters, which are Hartford Spotlight Theatres and Apple Cinemas in Waterbury
According to Hartford Spotlight Theaters manager Tyler Pulsifer, 32 people interested in watching "The Interview" called him during the first one and a half hour the theater was open on Christmas Eve.
"I'd be willing to bet we're going to sell out," Pulsifer told CBC Connecticut.
Directed by Rogen and Evan Goldberg, "The Interview" also stars Lizzy Caplan, Dan Sterling, Timothy Simons, Reese Alexander, Anesha bailey, Randall Park, Diana Bang, Paul Bae, James Yi, Charles Rahi Chun, Colin Foo, Cleo Yeh and Michelle Kim, among others.
