Kate Upton was named the first ever People Magazine's Sexiest Woman Aliveat the awards show held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday, Entertainment Tonight reported.

The 22-year-old follows after People's Sexiest Man Alive awardee Chris Hemsworth, who was given the title almost a month prior.

Upton was present at the event in a black fitting dress and in her speech she said, "This is such an honor to me because sexy to me means someone who's confident and happy, and that's the person I always strive to be."

According to Maxim, She also jokingly called out her boyfriend Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers, saying, "Um, you're welcome, Justin."

Eric Dane from "Grey's Anatomy" was on hand to present Upton the award and in his speech he said there were a lot of reasons why Upton was sexy, according to News.

"Style, career, achievements, sense of humor, personality. Oh, and did I mention her looks?" he said.

Upton is known for appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and also for acting in the romcom film "The Other Woman," alongside Leslie Mann and Cameron Diaz. She also recently appeared in the "Bartender" music video for Lady Antebellum and was featured in a campaign for Bobbi Brown.

Numerous celebrities were present at the event, which featured performances from the likes of Pharrell Williams, Maroon 5 and 5 Seconds of Summer.

Aside from Upton, others awarded at the event were Gwen Stefani as the Style Icon of the Year, Michael Keaton as Best Actor, Jennifer Aniston as Best Actress, Kate Hudson as the Role Model of the Year, Chloe Grace Moretz as the Next Generation Star, Jennifer Lopes as Triple Threat and more.

The winners were all chosen by editors from People Magazine and its sister publication Entertainment Weekly.
